Did a lil work on the 71 today.......pics
Decided i better do this swap, had all the parts here just been putting it off. 5.3L and 4L60E out of an 04 Tahoe. motor has 20k on it. Going to run LS1 electric fans and i modded my own wiring harness.

I'm sure that took a little time but it looks good. I only wish you had of had time to hit the frame rail with some black rustoleum, would really make that new motor look good

Re: Did a lil work on the 71 today.......pics
well you can always throw a plastic sheet or tarp over the motor and go to town so no big loss. But it just makes me a little jealous considering I have considered pulling the WHOLE motor just to sand blast and paint the frame and replace the mounts.
Still, it looks very good and I don't suppose rust will be too much a problem. No one is going to be looking under your hood most likely and you've got the performance where it counts with the new motor. I like it.

Beautiful F body... any plans to make it a split bumper? The really set it off IMO
Just out of curiosity, what did you pay for the 5.3 and the 4l80e?

If you decide to go with stock manifolds, I've got an extra set off of an 98-00 Fbody that will work with out any clearance issues.

WOW.. looks easy when you see your pics.
I'm glad to see what you did with the frame and motor mounts with the manifolds. I've been wrestling with and issue with mine. I've been holding off on doing exactly what you did. At least now i can say i've seen it done. LOL. Good looking build.

Are there ANY stock manifolds that will work without modifications? Car or truck?

if you change the motor mount stands i think you would be better off. I tried the truck, 99-02 f body, and vette. no luck, so i cut and welded haha

98 Fbody manifolds will work. They are the top ones.
