Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
Yes, I searched and searched some more...
My truck is a '69 and I have swapped everything suspension wise to '71 specs. I would have just swapped the crosmember but everything needed replaced or rebuilt so I went the long way around.... I ordered pre-bent brake lines and I could really use a diagram so I don't screw something up. I have a new disc/drum prop. valve and master cylinder, all new brake compnents...now just need to get some juice to them...HELP!!! One more Q- The bracket that holds the flex line, can I cut it off and weld it up front or do I need one from a '71? I did gather that the hard line runs up front, but being pre-bent,,I tried that with no real luck. Diagram Pics Mental Health professional anything!!!

Re: Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
This is something I need also. I requested pics from another member that is almost finished with his rolling chassis (72sameyrasmea, i think?) but he hasn't been able to get them.
I know you can get full line drawing pictures from LMC's website, but man - it would kick some serious ass to have someone shoot a buncha pics of their setup

I would think this post should be in the regular '67-'72 forum, you'd get more answers. I don't have any pics, but here's the diagram for a '71:

That looks like a right-hand-drive truck?

Re: Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
Yeah, I dunno... just got my factory assembly manual today and I haven't quite figured it out yet. But that's the way it looks in the book! Maybe it's so you can tell where the lines are running instead of the fact that they come out of the MC? LOL NO IDEA!

Re: Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
you need the tab for the soft line on the front of the '71 crossmember ... you can cut off the old one and reweld or buy new ones ... do a search on ebay for "brake line tab"
I have a 67 that has '72 suspension under it and I cut off the old tab and rewelded it ... then used SS braided line from the tab to the caliper. as far as the routing of the new pre-brent lines, there isn't really any way to mess it up as the fittings are sized so that they will only work on the proper side (left/right) ... Re: Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
Just to double check, the hard line that runs from the passenger side to the driver side..it does run along the front of the crossmember right?
I have one more thing to get and that is brake line clips for the new stuff, think any auto part stores would have them?

Re: Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
found clips similar at Lowes, will see how they work. If the brake line runs behind i can use the existing clips from the drum line that was there.

Re: Brake line routing for a '71 Disc
If you look at the diagram I posted, it runs behind.
