Trans leaking
My '72 is leaking trans fluid where the speedo cable attaches. I took it to the shop and they said there's really nothing they can do to fix it...that's just the way it's designed. I find this a little hard to believe. Anyone know how to fix the problem?

you live in Magnolia, there is a guy in Tomball that owns a performance shop called Pavlock Performance.
www.pavlockperformance.com Bryan is a helluva guy and if nobody offers up any info here, drop by there, and he may be able to give you a hand. |

Re: Trans leaking
This may seem dumb but have you tried some teflon tape on the threads?

There are no threads, but there is an "0" ring and driven gear that you can replace. You don't say what tranny you have but this should pretty much apply to all. The driven gear wears and will cause a leak around the shaft and the "O" ring on the driven gear housing gets hard and leaks . If your driven gear housing is made out of aluminum you need to replace it with a steel one as they wear on the inside. You can get all of the parts and info here: http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm You need to know what color your driven gear is... LockDoc

Re: Trans leaking
Put a new o ring in there, that will take care of it. I also put an o ring between the speedo cable cap and the speedo cable end...just in case.

mine leaks in the same place! I got up under there and fiddled with it and it spit on me, so I left it alone-
