Re: New guy from Las Cruces NM 1969 short bed
It works great. You need to get one from a 1978 ford lincoln mark 5. The lug pattern already is the chevy 5 on 5 and its about 2 inches wider than the 6 lug 12 bolt so your tires wont rub the inside of the fender wells. You need to carefully remove the axle purchases from the 12 bolt to put on the 9 inch as they dont sell an angled purch. On mine I cut the panhard bar in the middle and welded in a tie rod to allow for adjustment. You will need to find a bracket to weld to the 9 inch for the panhard bar. The one I used was from a 1965 and down 12 bolt. If I get a chance I will put op a few pictures.

Re: New guy from Las Cruces NM 1969 short bed
SOON2BLAZE here are a few pictures of the 9 inch in my truck.
The angled purch Here is the bracket from a 1966 and down chevy 12 bolt for the panhard bar. The disk brakes Everything is a bit dirty and dusty as the truck has been sitting for about 4 years. As you can see I have a little more space between my tire and fender well. And the tire still sets inside the fender and the front is still wider then the rear like it should be. |

Nice 9" set up. I plan on using some axle saddles from early classic enterprises, I have their 6" drop so it solves the panhard setup, unless the pan hard rubs the pumpkin, then I'll be getting a bent bar. What, no more tri power? How do you like the offy intake? Been thinking about their 360 degree on my BBC. Looks like your trucks coming along good.

Re: New guy from Las Cruces NM 1969 short bed
Yeah the tri power was great but it drank fuel like it was going out of style. The tripower I had was made from the bigger rochester 2 barel carbs so when all three were wide open it was 900 cfm but it sounded great. The truck was starting to not be a daily driver so I removed the tri power and put back my Q-jet and Offey. I love my Offenhauser intake and my tri power was one as well. My next step is either changing out the 4:11 gears or removing the 4 spd and putting back my 700R4 as Im tired of using my 69 Mini as a daily driver. O-yeah the other reason for removing the tri power was so I could put back my A/C. Gets hot in New Mexico.

Ya the fuel consumption does get to be a concern. I'm going with the NP a 833 4spd OD. Wanted to keep it 4 spd They are a ***** to find but with 28" tall tires and 3.50 gears I should be @ 2000 rpm @ 65 mph. AC is almost a must here as well. Are your rims about a 4" back spacing ?
