Re: what the heck?
actually now that I look at it... I think its just a photoshop job. the shadows all wrong. I am willing to bet on it. I mean really, think those jack stands could support that monster without sinking into the ground.

I cruise a lot of backroads with my job, and in Oklahoma, you can see some interesting things (actually - the backroads can be interesting no matter what state your in) -- i look at storm damage all day, so i always have a camera, but this thing was 300 feet off the main road behind a mobile home and just stuck out like a sore thumb -- i think it is a frame harvesting operation too, but i have never seen one performed in the middle of a field, while leaving everything else completely intact (the hood is still on the darn thing) it couldnt have been there too long, or i agree, the jackstands would've sunk in and brought the whole thing down --- -- hope the guy doesnt have any curious toddlers

Somebody stoled the whole chassis instead of just taking the wheels.

Being a proud Oklahoma resident (born and raised), I thought I'd have a good answer. Nope, sure don't... I thought people only did that stuff in Texas. Lol, just kidding

Re: what the heck?
Wow, looks like a sacrificial offering to the automotive gods or something.
What does that emblem on the fender say? TrailMaster? Is that some special 4x4 package or something? I would have to say sombody wanted the chassis for good reason.

Re: what the heck?
First off I respect the guy for what ever reason he has for doing what he has done, now with that said... I agree on the safety issue it isn't very smart leaving it up in the air like that.
1.) I would venture to say with having been around construction when I was growing up and working around scaffolding those screw jacks are probably rated well over a 1000lbs each. 2.) The ground looks relatively dry that would be one reason they haven't sunken in. 3.)Now that i'm older & a little wiser (51) and my business is videography & photography, the shadows look fine. They are coming from above, behind and slightly to the right of the vehicle and I would say not an extremely bright day but with some high thin clouds as the shadows are not sharp and defined. 4.)I work with photoshop most everyday and I will tell you this unless you're real good with it, it's not that easy to fool someone who's really looking. It can be done just not easy and it takes some real talent, I know I've tried. 5.)Whom ever said it. you're right on when saying.. that interesting things are seen on the back roads. That's why they're a lot more fun to take. 6.) Yes I looked at the picture way too long to figure this all out... Have a great weekend & Sabbath, God Bless, Terry |

Re: what the heck?
kind of looks like they intend to make a Mud Bogger out of it with they way the quarters are shaved. You need it that high to roll the 44 TSL's under!

This is what I was thinking. Hacking the fenders/body in that manor is pretty common in off roading, give a bit better ground clearance when climing up or coming off of an obstacle. Though it appears the whole frame is missing.. maybe tube frame? I too am interested in where this is in Oklahoma... Just to see the outcome.

Re: what the heck?
where at in opklahoma did you see that ill have to hop on the bike and go talk to them and find out. 77 350 shorty wide its been raining cats and dogs here off and on for the past 3 weeks so if its a recent pic then it is infact surprising that its not sinking unless the stands have plate feet or something eithere way i wanna see it in person.

Re: what the heck?
If it's a recent pic...? Then you guys have some GREAT Drainage or FAST evaporation qualities down your way. When was the picture taken? There appears to be no mud in the field and the gravel road also looks to be very dry. I do not see anything in the picture that resembles tires, having plate feet or anything else for that matter at the bottom of or immediately under the stands. There could be of course something below ground level or is well camouflaged in the grass. I enlarged the picture by 700% to look, didn't see anything at that size! Anything larger and it becomes pointless due to over pixelization. Terry

Re: what the heck?
Its in Choctaw off of - i think Triple X or Peebly Rd just south of the Reno or SE 15th intersection and on the west side
Trailmaster was a company that did conversion van type packages in the 80's and early 90's (captains chairs, mood lighting, oak accents- the whole bit)
