headman elite question
Narrowing down my long tube header search.
couple of questions about headman elite. one: how does the "thermal coating" hold up as good as ceramic? Not a daily driver maybe a weekly driver. Two: the ball socket collector does the ball pivot in the socket and still allow you to seal? Third mine is a 68 sbc what is the correct part number is it 69890. Thanks

Re: headman elite question
I would go with Ceramic coated. I got some long tube headmans for my 68 with an 89 350 block and Vortec heads. The were on the motor, and it was on the frame. Stored inside for a while, then outside covered in plastic for a while. The color dulled and looked worn and I had never even run them. They looked awful next to all my chrome stuff, plus the long tubes did not fit my frame very well, had to do some grinding, and they rubbed one of the lower control arm grease fittings.
Check out my build thread to see the fit and finish of my new mid length ceramic coated Sanderson's. I love em. If you must have long tubes and you want them to stay looking nice for years to come, I say go with Ceramic coated. My .02

Re: headman elite question
I am going to go with long tubes I the performace better and I like the look of them. My other option is hooker comps coated from jet-hot the are around 350.00 I think.

Re: headman elite question
i have a question if anyone has ever used flowtech headers? i have a 71 4x4 3/4 that im swaping the leaking 350/4speed/205 to a 350/400/203 from a 76 chev and dont have the money for good headers so i got some flowtechs. they fit in ok but some of the bolt holes dont line up at all. just wonder if i can grind the holes out of if that will make them leak?

Re: headman elite question
I installed a set of the Elite headers in my '83 chevy truck and had no complaints.
