e-bay idiot?
Why am i always amazed? Another *rare 3 door* on e-bay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...ayphotohosting Actually looks like a nice truck... but not the 12 second 1/4 mile rig he thinks it is... nor the one of 1500 optioned with the third door. |

Re: e-bay idiot?
Everyone that is informed knows of this site, and of longhorn man.
5 grand isn't that bad though. It LOOKS solid. doubt the front end has been rebuilt, but its hard to tell. Would be alot better with AC. 5k will get a decent 99 or 98 Tahoe around here. This would be alot cooler to have and get about the same mpg, have the same comfort, and turn alot more heads. Just needs AC

Re: e-bay idiot?
Um, NO! That tank wouldn't run 12's with that vacuum secondary, dual plane, naturally aspirated 383 if it was dropped out of a plane!
Assuming that Burb weighs 5500# and runs a 12.99 @ 105 (which the weight and speed are both low estimates) it would take approximately 500 RWHP to achieve this. Factor in a 20% drivetrain loss and that puppy would have to be making around 630 HP at the crank. Yeah, Riiiiigghhhtttt!!!!

Re: e-bay idiot?
That is a cool BURB. I think there is a 'bit of exageration with the 12's but for the price as of 9:05 pm 4/29/08 @ $5100 a very good buy. Better than the 2 rides i got for 875.

Re: e-bay idiot?
That's a clean ride, I'd buy it for 5k and bag it. The seller is a J-Kass that's probably never taken it over 20 MPH and claims he's runnin 12's....I think he meant it takes him 12 minutes in an 1\8th mile!
I agree with Shane, he's a used car salesman, he reminds me of the guy in that movie with Jamie lee Curtis and Arnold....the secret service guy!

I sent him a question about the rarity of being a 3 door. I hope he answers it.

Ouch! ALL CAPS. Stop reading. I did involuntarily raise my hand upon seeing the "idiot" in the title though...

Or the Broken Speedometer..
furthermore, did the Automatic trucks have the Small brake pedal in '67 or is it a converted manual truck? Last edited by Shaffer4; 05-01-2008 at 10:38 AM. |

Re: e-bay idiot?
Isn`t that a 5 door?
For a change, rather than knock the Ebay rig or even the tall or inaccurate statements made by the seller I want to criticize alot of member`s comments on Ebay rigs.I see it all the time,"That`s not a bad Suburban for $5,000",or whatever.I look at the pics and description, however inaccurate, and think,"Really,I`d pay that much for that".That is until I realize this isn`t a "Buy It Now" sale and what makes anyone think it costs that much? It`s a dang auction and the price at the time of the thread may be $5,000 but there`s still over a day left with several bidders, not to mention a few token snipes! Are these members fantasizing about it being $5,000?Are we assuming it will go no higher? That truck isn`t selling for $5,000 and there`s nothing in the text suggesting that. All I see is that the bidding is currently at $5,100.I see this all the time and have my critical thoughts about how guys come up with this, but until now never said anything.

Re: e-bay idiot?
This is the responce I got when I asked:
Q: I thought all '67 to '72 Suburbans were 3 doors. Am I wrong? A: hi could be possible, we were repeating what was told to us when truck was traded in. sorry if it was incorrect we honestly d'ont know. So it is somebody from a used car lot that don't know much about classics. They should have been smart enough to call his bluff or research it before they posted it.
