Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

if its a 3/4 ton truck (C/20 or C/2500 GMC) then it is the HO52. Only one tons got the 72.
You are probably out of lck on locating a new locker, these rear ends have been obsolete for a long time now.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

do the later model (73 up) 14 bolt GM corperate rear axle swap. it's a beefy SOB and parts are easy to find. GM still uses a version of it today. Dana 60s aren't nearly as strong unless you spend some serious coin on upgraded pieces, anything bigger than 35s and you'll see what i mean--you better have a good supply of spare axle shafts.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

Please explain what the rear needs. You just mentioned wood falling off the truck and the locker is burn`t.What`s exactly wrong with the locker? They are serviceable.Contact the manufacturer about service parts. You can`t but a newunit, but service parts should be available. The 14-bolt units can be made to work pretty easily.I have a later K/30axle set and I`m setting the 14-bolt aside in favor of an HO52/No-Spin.Napa has axle parts.

Inland truck parts might be able to help you. When i was rebuilding mine, that's where i found some parts.

I have an Eaton 8 lug thing sitting by my garage. I've got the whole thing. If you are ever in Washington, you can have it. I might mention that this is out of a 71 3/4 ton. You might also check Randy's Ring and Pinion for parts.

if you want anything higher than 4.10, then start looking to swap to another rear all together.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

I had a No-Spin do the same thing right after I installed it.Just one wheel spins full-time,like a go cart, right?Worse traction than a bias rear.Almost impossible not to spin that tire.I just droe it home 5 miles, then back to yank it out.We couldn`t see any reason when we removed it.The only thing I can figure is the springs must be weak. It`s an indexed cog ring and really nothing to it and only one way to assemble.I`m sure they are available. If nothing else I figure the ones for the 14-bolt would work.I had another unit and just slapped that in.Whatever you do,don`t chuck that No-Spin.I`ll buy it or I`m sure someone will.
You can try to locate a Dana60 from these trucks with the 3.54s.I don`t believe even a 14-bolt comes any higher than 3.73.Someone correct me if I`m wrong. These "truck" ratios are fine with overdrive.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

A detroit locker from a 14 bolt, bolts right in. You just have to use the 14 bolt axles. Last month I scored a new, in the GM box no spin, (detroit locker) for $200

Yup, sometimes you have to shorten the 14 bolt axle a bit.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

If you have a coil rear end, a 3.54 Dana out of a 68-72 3/4 ton 2WD suburban would be ideal. The axle should be a direct bolt on to coil spring rear end 3/4 ton pickup, since all 2WD suburbans had coils.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

You're axle is actually going to be a 4.56, or a 4.11 the HO72 did not come in a 4.10, it was either a 4.56 4.11 or a 3.90.

Now, Yukon Gear Makes gears for them still.

And Randy'sRandy's carry's the Locker some times.

They are a damn good axle, they were actually made by Eaton for GM, Eaton still has service parts listed for them. It would be worth your while to check em out.

Even though they are a narrower housing than a 14 bolt, I feel as though they are a far superior axle.

If you need any more info let me know.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

It`s an HO52.The truck is a 3/4t.Isn`t 4.11 the Dana ratio and 4.10 the Eaton ratio?That`s what I`ve seen.
I didn`t see a listing for any Lckers under Yukon`s site.And...WOW!!!It`s cool Randy`s does, but jeezowiz!!!That`s alotta loot!I`d buy the 14-bolt unit for a couplehundred less and come up with some axles out of one of the millions of 14-bolts out there.

I have a bunch of eatons. The only gears I have are 4.10, 4.56, and 5.13. I run 4.56 in my Blazer 4X4 and my twd pu. Both have lockers. When I went on a 3500 mile road trip with the pu I put the economy 4.10's in to keep the rpm's down to 3600 rpm on the hiway. The blazer does ok with 35 inch tires, but while it appart for the rebuild its getting a 700r4, so it will becme my economy comuter.

Re: eaton parts where to find im flustered

yea pretty much.. parts for an eaton is like finding a needle in a haystack but the 14 bolt is like the starbucks of the HD chevy world i think ill just clean up the rear end on the thing and change out parts if i need to.. i cant sleep cuz my 496 is goin tomorrow, but it could have gone in today because no one had the LH frame mount of the motor mount :| hope the NP 435 can hang
