Steering problem
I've been having an intermittant steering problem. Sometimes I'll take a corner from a stop,( Either direction) when I return the wheel to go straight, the truck will lurch to the opposite direction as if a ghost yanked the wheel a 1/4 turn.
It's strange, I'll start heading straight and then a quick jolt, then straight again. I just had new tires put on ( coincidently right before this started) but can't find any evidence of tampering- but they tried real hard to sell me an alignment I knew was not neccessary. I also have 2- Rancho steering stabilizers on the truck- Oh= It's a 72 Blazer 4X4 If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it Thanks |

It sounds like you have a frozen axle u joint, lift your front tires off the ground and crank your wheels to the right, spin your tires around on each side and see if there is any resistance, crank your wheels to the left and try spinning them again. Also try this with your hubs locked in, I have seen axle u joints freeze solid in no time once they take on water.

It's also a VERY good idea to shake the front end down while your checking those. Sounds like parts are binding then popping loose, this is about to get dangerous.

Thanks for giving me some places to start looking. It's been making me real nervous. It's my daily driver, but luckily I only drive a few miles through town ( 30 mph limit ). I used to take it out of town just to get it warmed up in the morning but not anymore- until I get it fixed.
