Rear Auxiliary Spring?
I like to have more info about the optionnal rear Auxiliary Spring. Is it a rare option? Is it possible to found easely a used kit? Can this option really improve the charging capacity? Do you have detailed picture of the plate with the rubber pad screwed on the rear axle/trailing arm? How much is logical to pay for a used kit(left-right)? Is it the option number G60? Thank's for all your answer and picture. Francois
P.S.:sorry for my bad english!

Re: Rear Auxiliary Spring?
A guy down the street from me has a set of these on his '69 LWB C10, I don't know if they're original. they look like half a leaf spring bolted to the frame rail, the "tip" of which rides on the trailing arm.
I thought about buying them to put on my truck ('68 LWB C10) but I moved about 1500lb of concrete the next weekend without my stock springs deflecting more than 2", so I'm a little afraid of what would break first if I were to load up the bed until the aux springs showed deflection. Not to mention what it would do to the coil spring ride... /g |

Re: Rear Auxiliary Spring?
I'm also curious how they affect that nice coil spring ride. Anyone have any experience?

Re: Rear Auxiliary Spring?
The Data Book shows a G-60 helper spring (500lbs.each) for C20 trucks.Don't know if there was a C10 option.
IIRC they don't come into play until you load the bed so they don't affect the ride when empty.

Re: Rear Auxiliary Spring?
Both of my GMC 910's have the helper spring option. I have seen very many Canadian made trucks with them. I think it was more common here in Canada. I have bought/sold them for around $50.00CDN. Je ne parle pas français très bon mais j'essaye. Lentement svp.

Re: Rear Auxiliary Spring?
I had them on my c-10 1/2ton and when my grandfather and dad had the truck they pulled the camper and loaded it with wood and really used it like a truck and never had problems with bottoming out or anything...

Re: Rear Auxiliary Spring?
I have picture pictures of the leaf spring but I don't have any detailed picture of the stopper pad bolted to the trailing arm.
