My 69 GMC project
Picked the truck up a week ago locally. Runs good but needs a box and the cab fixed. So i bought a new box (old box but in way nicer shape than mine) and instead of trying to fix the rust around the windshield i got a better cab for it too. So i'm just starting to tear it apart now. Not sure how far i will get in the next couple months but i'll update this page sooner or later!

Hope you don't mind, I lightened up the first pic a little. It was really hard to see.... Looks like a heck of a good start. LockDoc

Re: My 69 GMC project
I'm going to either hide the cd player under the bench or make a bracket like we did for our cutlass (we made the one for the cutlass to look like the factory 8track holder).
i'll have to take a better interior picture later, but you can see how it was mounted. ![]() |

Re: My 69 GMC project
You finally have it tore down to where you can start to putting it back now. That original cab was bad alright but you still have a good bit of work on the new one too. Having it off the truck should help make the repairs easier.

Re: My 69 GMC project
Everything is completly out now except the dash but i'm working on that! Wiring harness wasn't in as bad of shape as i first thought but seeing how it's totally gutted anyways i might put a new harness in as well.

Re: My 69 GMC project
*Small update*
Pretty well have all my cab resto parts now (cab corners, rockers, floor, floor supports etc.) Just had my new dash pad arrive tonite and my carpet should be in any day now. I also decided to go with a 68' chevy front end seeing how i was having a heck of a time tracking down a GMC cradle. So i picked up a 68' grille and cradle from a friend of a friend for $100 (cradle isn't rotted at all under the battery tray like 99% of the ones i looked at). Grille has no dents but the trim in the middle needs to be replaced. Not a big deal. ![]() ![]() And here is the cab sitting for now because it is way to damn cold to work on it (need to finish heating the gargage). ![]() ![]() ...and yes, those are christmas lights hanging on the front (my wife thought it would be a good place to store them). haha! |

Re: My 69 GMC project
Here is a pic of my truck. I found it in Denton,Tx. One owner, no rust through cab or rockers. I will be cutting it into a short bed by the end of Jan. Original CST w/ power-steering, powerbooster w/ drum brakes..rare, posi-track, a/c cab. Hey good luck, I will be posting pics as I go along. Sorry I tried to download pics but my server failed.

Re: My 69 GMC project
I havn't had much time in the last year or so to work on my truck. Home renovations took priority over the truck. But seeing how I have finished most of them, I was able to get some time on it again.
![]() blasted and painted new(er) 72' Arms, New Mcgaughy 2 inch drop spindles and Crossmember. ![]() New cab mounts (raw in picture, but now powder coated) ![]() Brand new fenders, minty 68' hood and the old grille I bought a few years ago. ![]() current cab i'm using (cab #3) ![]() front end back together (minus steering)with 3 inch ccp drop coils. ![]() Rear suspension torn out and painted the rest of the frame. ![]() Trailing arms blasted (were in great shape) and new poly bushings installed. You are a better man than me, I could not have traded 4 eyes for 2 and GMC= God's Motor Company doesn't it? Glad you are back working on it again, will watch it through.

Re: My 69 GMC project
Looking at your pics I'm not sure but the front end reaches all the way to the ground so it may be low enough in the front

I'm thinking that once my body is back on and motor in, I'll be happy with how it sits.
