Des Moines / Iowa Junkyard Find (now with pics)
pretty rough '72 (said on the side) but it had an older grill.
Custom C-20 LWB fleetside with rear leaf springs, and dana 60 rear. Wood bed too, but rotted good. someone had removed the engine, and just cut through the grill and core support! Hood is dented on the left front and is in the bed. It has a nice chrome front bumper on it, but I didn't have enough tools with me, plus I was standing in a foot of water... has a solid tailgate on it too, but a massive rear bumper is blocking the bottom bolts... it had the side aux gas tank, and the in-bedside toolbox (rough) I scored the rear slider ($25) out of it, non-stock antenna, gas pedal. and I also got the door weatherstrip out of a '91 Dodge ($2.40), so my doors are sealed up nicely now.

Re: Des Moines / Iowa Junkyard Find
sorry, forgot to post that. it's at Wrench 'N Go. if you go, wear some knee high rubber boots. lots of water there now due to all the rain...
That was the only 67-72 chevy there. I must have missed it the last time I was there... I just went today for the door weather stripping. and it fit perfect. had to cut off about 4" in length....

Re: Des Moines / Iowa Junkyard Find
okay, I went back today, and the tailgate and bumper were still there....
here's a pic from today, with the rear slider from the first trip... tailgate is solid, only a bit of surface rust. no bondo (like my current tailgate) plus it's not curved

Re: Des Moines / Iowa Junkyard Find
Stopped at WnG today, on vacation this week. They have a blue '71 in there too. Got a vent wing assembly from it, was already removed and sitting on the seat. Took a couple pics, Blue has fac a/c both have power brakes. Like the custom black-out dash on the white 72. The blue one also has a white headliner. If you want something, I can go get it this week.

So is that a Subaru Brat all the parts are leaning on? My dad had one years ago. Great little car/truck.

Re: Des Moines / Iowa Junkyard Find
oh man.... I don't have an AC cab, but I wonder if the AC/Heat control unit would still work for me? I've got some levers missing on mine
I've got a few in a junkyard to look at on Thursday up in NE Iowa... supposedly have a good hood up there... after seeing the factory bedside toolbox on eBay, I kinda want to see if the one on the '72 at WNG is salvageable or not.... when I got the bumper off the 72, I just got the bumper itself, not the bracket that holds it to the frame, and after seeing some other threads here, I'm not sure if I need them or not.... since I pulled it off a 2wd..... I don't have my truck back from the shop yet to compare bumpers..... an unbroken grille will be next after the hood is replaced....
