Bumper Brackets
I am planning to remove my step bumper and replace with a sport/regular bumper. I'm trying to figure out what brackets I need versus what I have, do I just need a new set of inner brackets or do I need both inside and outside? Thanks!

Re: Bumper Brackets
i think you will need the inner and outer brackets. and you will also need the assembly for the license plate

Re: Bumper Brackets
Yep they are different, they are also hard to get. If you can get them new they will cost more than the bumper.
Truckstop in CA had the full kit for $289.00 Bumper, brackets, license plate holder and bolts. Bumper on its own $125.00

Re: Bumper Brackets
If you pick one up from a junkyard, only the inner brackets are different.

Re: Bumper Brackets
I got my sport bumper and brackets through http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/. The ordering, shipping, communication and quality of parts was great. You will also need a new license plate light assembly to go along with your new license plate brackets.

Bolted mine up with only the inner brckets i got from lmc. Modified them to tuck the bumper closer to the body.

Re: Bumper Brackets
i WOULD LIOKE TO DO THIS , BUT DOES YOUR TAILGATE OPEN WITHOUT HITTING YOUR BUMPER WHEN ITS THAT CLOSE. YOU WOULDNT HAVE IT IF IT DID iM SURE / JUST CHECKING TO MAKE SURE.

Re: Bumper Brackets
It does hit, but i never open the tailgate anyways. I could slot the holes more on the brackets and move it a little down to make it not hit while open, but i wanted it as close to the body as possible to eliminate the gap.
