I have a question about welding....
i bought a hobart handler 140 i believe it is. I have welded a couple things with it but I ran it without gas hooked up to it. Welds came out decent but I hear any welder welds a whole lot better with gas. Now my question is what type gas do I get? I wanna get some repairs done on my trucks but i want to get this welding down first. Any help or advise is highly appreciated guys.

When you run without gas, be sure to use flux core wire. Thats all i know about gas welding. lol

If you do a search of this site, you will find tons of info on welding. I stole this from Slug in this thread to answer your question:
"for welding sheetmetal you need to use .23 or .25 solid wire (70s-6) and a mix gas of argon/co2 (75/25 or c-25 what ever the supplyer calls it). and set your welding machine to the thickness of metal you are welding. "

for steel best resuts are a 25% argon 75%CO2 mixture// its the most common of mixtures that welding suppliers provide// to get the very most out of each tank of gas get religious about closing the bottle when not in use// if you're going to take an hour of grinding and fitting theres no reason the gas bottle shoud be on
