Power steering help

Hey Everyone, I'm a newby on here, so if i'm not doing something rigt, feel free to correct me. I just bought a '71 short fleet (thanks to this forum), and the first thing i need to do is add some power steering. I'm new to this body style, so i don't know what steering boxes will fit. The '67-'72 trucks are harder to find so will a power steering box off a '73-'87 fit on my frame? Also, where's the best place to get a front end rebuild kit? Thanks everyone.

welcome to the board.

yes, the '73-'87's will fit, but when you get the power steering pump, make sure that you get the ones that fit the '73-'87. otherwise if you get the pump from the '67-'72's, you will have to get an adapter for the lines.

Re: Power steering help

The 1980 up uses different fittings for the hoses. There are some variations in the size of the shaft that goes to the column so get the rag joint to match.

Re: Power steering help

Make sure you get the correct 2wd or 4wd box as well since they look the same but the pitman arm moves left/right on 2wd and front/back on 4wd.
