Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
I just aquired this bed spare tire mount, and need to know what the hardware looks like. Mabey I could reproduce it, if it isn't available.
Is it just an L or J shaped bolt in the hole, with a plate and wingnut or something ?? The bed floor has the holes I need, just need to drill the top. Thanks guys.... - - - - - - Later

Re: Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
Hey John,
Where did you get that? I don't think I've seen one before. I would like to find some way (that doesn't cost too much) to mount my spare. Nice find. Tim |

Re: Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
my 65 parts truck had the in bed mount, my 65 dd had an under bed mount.
My side mount was missing the hardware as well. |

I was going to just build a mount...no big deal, but I came up with this one. This way, I can run a rear tank and a spare. Quote:
I have a clean under bed mount as well....and other stuff for sale in the parts section

Re: Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
Thanks man...although that looks like an aftermarket mount.
Wonder if the hold down design is stock ?? At this point, I think I'm gonna stop being anul, and just make a nice lockable mount and call it a day ! Thanks !!

Re: Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
Here's mine. I have no reason to believe it isn't original. It has a bolt with an end kind of like a railroad spike that slips through the bracket, and sort of a hand-threadable retaining bold thingie. Maybe it's missing a piece after looking at that catalog picture, but either way, the wheel stays put.

Re: Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
Thanks man, that's exactly what I needed to see !!!
I just realized I have that same bolt on my rolling chassis' under tire carrier. With the under carrier, by installing a pad-lock, you couldn't drop the mount even if unscrewed all the way.... Now, not sure how you would lock the in bed type?? Cool man, thanks again. Later

Re: Picture wanted of in bed spare mounting.....
Maybe drill a hole through the end of the bolt, and then use a tiny padlock?
would be probably enough to stop a grab and go... |

Thats what I did with the trailer hitch on my truck. We've got a problem around here with people stealing those off of trucks (of all things.....), so i just drilled a hole through the end of the pin and put a small padlock on it. you can barely notice it, and I think its plenty enough to convince the bad guys to move on to something easier. |
