what year dod they stop using the rockwell t-case?

I looked at a "71" gmc K1500 truck for sale today... well the title and owner says its a 71 gmc anyway. The truck had drum brakes, a CS vin beginning and the t-case shifter wa on the left of the 4 speed shifter... so I'm thinking it must be a 69- or older frame and running gear.

I thought they quit using the rockwell t-case in 69, and some 69's got the np205??? are there any pro's to having a rockwell?

thanks

You`re right about`69 being the last year for the Rockwells "and" a few New Procees` being used, like on Blazer automatics. It`s a good cast, but no advantage at all.Only, the disadvantage of more rare parts.I think it`s an earlier 4wd with a later 2wd body set on it and front axle up under it.

71's also have disk brake front ends. Sounds like something someone has pieced together.
