setting the door latches

Probably just a lot of trial and error..................but I am wondering f there are short cuts or techniques that have been used to set up the door latch mechanism adjustment to the cab ??????

The assembly manual has a specs. for the placement and gaps on the door latch mechanism and striker plate. Sorry I don't have mine with me to scan a pic for you.

I have all of the original shims etc. from when I took it apart. I guess the actual tricks and techniques are what i was interested in.

Mine was just a bunch of trial and error. Watching where the door hit the striker and making small adjustments until they were smooth.

I got lucky on the passenger door and got it first try , but the drivers door im still not happy with . Alot of opening and closing .

I have not tried this so take this with a large helping of salt.
After the doors are adjusted(lots of trial and error in that) install the striker postsand slightly snug them.Leave them where they can move but will stay in place.Close the door to set the striker post where it needs to go.Then gently open the door without bumping the striker.The striker should then be adjusted and can be tightened.
As I said this is something I read either here or in one of the car guy mags and I haven't tried it.let us know if this helps.
