check the bulbs. I know it sounds stupid..but I work at a dealer and see both bulbs blow at the same time alot.

Re: what happened to my lights?
Couple of problems I've encountered in the past with these trucks. The light switch itself was bad the first time. I just went and got another from the local auto parts store.
The second time wasn't as easy. It was an intermittent (and dangerous) problem. The sucker would all of a sudden go dark while driving down the road. After checking all the cables, battery, ground and anything I could think of, I found the high/low beam foot switch was defective. Local auto parts store had one also... |

Re: what happened to my lights?
kick the dimmer switch on and off a few times. If you get any light... even a flicker, replace it.
VERY common, esp in a plow truck. |

Re: what happened to my lights?
A good begining.. Try removing the foot switch and bypass it. I believe its just two cables and you could couple them together.

Re: what happened to my lights?
see where you don't have voltage with a simple light tester. start at the headlight socket, work your way down the tan or green wire probing the wire every now and then, see where you lose your 12 volts. or if you do have 12 volts at the headlight socket, see that you have a good ground. i bet the headlight switch is good seeing how every other light works, could be a bad ground on the headlights or their power wire has been cut or a connection came loose, possibly bad dimmer too.
see if voltage goes in the dimmer, and out. Last edited by matthufham; 07-02-2008 at 01:52 AM. |
