de-arching rear leaf springs???

what is this? right now i have a belltech 3/4 drop on my truck and it wasnt enough in the back so removed the helper spring but i would still like a lil bit more drop in the rear and i plan on taking a coil out of the front springs. I would like to get about another 2" out of the back. any suggestions? also if i take out one full turn on the front coil how much of a drop would that be?

Dearching leafs is excatly what its name implys. basicly, a spring shop puts your leaf pack in a giant press and bends the living hell out of them to take the arch out of them. ive done it many times to my trucks (mostly s10's) and ive gotten upwards of 4" drop without loosing ride quality or payload.

when i cut my springs in my 75 3/4 ton, i hacked off a little more than 1.5 coils and got 4" drop up front. rides good too

If you need 2 more inches in the back, you could put the factory hangers back on and put a flip kit on it. That would be the easiest method...

I don't like dearching springs.

I have 3" of drop with dearched leaf springs and 2 leafs removed, I love the ride quality, I'll install a 2" shackles to obtain 5" in the rear... If you're going to de-arch your leafs you have to remove 1 or 2 leafs to maintain the ride quality

i second the flip kit you maintain the stock ride and drop down your rear end noticibly

i am also interested in finding a diffrent way to drop the rear,i currently have a flip kit on it,but rides like crap! stiff and cant even put any load on it, bounces and bottoms out real hard.any suggestions? some one told me to flip them back over the right way,and just remove all but 2 of the leafs and put the smallest one back on but upside down,any one done this???? and how is the ride?

another issue with dearched springs is them not being the same from one side to the other i have this issue on my truck

Id say between 2 and 3 inches of drop. I just cut a coil and a half and got right around 4 inches of drop. Only have about 1.5-2" of suspension travel left but doesn't bottom out or rub yet and still rides good. Out back I got 3" of drop from bolting a set of stock squarebody hangers below my factory hangers. The eyelets on the springs just barely hit the bed floor, so i jacked it back up to get the load off the springs and took a small piece of 1x4 and put in between and then lowered the truck back on the ground to clearance for the bed floor. Then jacked it back up again and took the pieces of wood out. Can hardly tell the bed floor is bent when you look inside of it. Front sits perfect, bit I need another 2-3" in the back so it looks as sick as the front. I think I'll just move the front hangers up to the next set of holes on the frame and that should give me the additional 3 without having to undo anything and do a axle flip. Will definitely have to do a c-notch then though.

This was done on my 90 rcsb btw. Didn't see what year your truck was at first, came across this post while doing a search to figure what I was going to do next on mine. Guess tomorrow I'll be shaving rivets off my front hangers lol
