Big Block Guy's: Please help
Does anyone know if a big block will fit with the stock steering on a '54 1/2 ton? I just eyeballed it and it looks real close. Any pic's? Thanks

I dont think it is that no one "will help" I think it may be that no one can help. Most people that go through the process of installing a big block motor have taken out the original front end and steering. You might be hard pressed to find anyone with a big block and original steering setup.

Kind of what I was thinking tubbed55, I am going to keep the straight axle in it, so I may have to fabricate some other type of steering system. I really want to keep the factory set up just because I like it.

I haven't tried it but the frame on the AD is 1" narrower than a 73-87 the steering on the 73-87 with or without a BBC is on the outside of the rail. BBC's are a tight fit in both trucks. So the short answer is no it won't work with a stock steering
