frame swap

47-54 trucks.
Have any of you guys dropped your body on anything other than an s-10 rolling chasis? I have a longbed (thinking of going short) and I have access to a 79 gmc rolling chasis half ton. I heard on s-10 frames that longbeds dont work.

Re: frame swap

You may be able to make the frame work, but your front suspension and rear axle are going to be too wide. You want to have axles around 60" wide (wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface) and fullsizes are around 65", so the tires would stick out a considerable distance. Older GM cars and S-10's seem to be the best to run.
