Driveshaft help

I'm going from a 700R4 that the previous owner had installed and I'm going back to a TH350. As it's almost impossible to find a long tail, I'm gonna have to go with a short tail and I was wondering how long would the drive shaft be?

If your looking for a custom built D/S, you'll want to get the measurement sheet from the place you want to build it. As far as a stock one, Im no help there!

When i need a trans for my camaro (short tail) i could only find long tails. Seems like someone needs to send the transmission from georgia to ks and bring the ks ones back lol.

Are you absolutely sure that the long tails are hard to find? I think that there are some shops around with them.

The 350 C trannys were designed with a smaller output shaft than a standard 350. I put a lot of miles on my 350 C before I went to the OD tranny. I would not go back, due to the increased mileage and the lower first gear. The long tube units are out there, but if not, then to make a new driveline, I would mount the tranny, then insert the front slip yoke into the tranny to the point of normal engagement and then measure from the front yoke to the rear yoke's area of the same alignment. I have had a fair amount of drivelines built at a shop in my local area and they are good at what they do. The cost of a new balanced steel driveline has been around $175.00 with new u-joints installed. My truck, my DD truck, and my Son's truck all have had drivelines built for them with no problems.

I would go with a 350C if I could get one with a long tailshaft.. There isn't a good shop around here that builds drivelines. Is anyone running an aluminum driveshaft?

I've called every yard around within 100 miles of me and only one place had one and he didn't know if it was good or not.. I called a few shops and all of them wanted $600 or better for a rebuilt one with a 90 day warranty..
