turn signal help
ok im getting ready to go on a trip tomorrow with my 69 c10. i just put it back together. i went to check the lights just now. all the lights work but the right turn signals. when i put the hazard lights on, all of the lights blink but the front right. i put a new bulb in it. i put a test light to the plug on the rad support and its not blinking there either. i checked all the grounds. i cleaned the contact in the column and still nothing. any suggestions????

Re: turn signal help
Go under the dash with a test light and check the dark blue wire that comes out of the turn signal switch harness with the signals going. If you don't have flashing power, then the switch itself has a broken contact. If it flashes there, then time to check the connections from there out to the lamp

Re: turn signal help
expect to replace the switch. We already know the wires to the lamp are good, it works with the 4 ways on.

Good chance it could still be the switch but I would try the test suggested by "kwmech" first. LockDoc

Re: turn signal help
Try swapping the 2 flashers. It could be a $3 fix.

Re: turn signal help
WOAH!
leon, I re-read it, and you are right. So I'll respond with a question... You say all the lights work, except when you turn on the 4 way flashers... Does this mean the lamp lights up with the right turn signal on? If yes, then I stand by my switch answer. if no, then you probably have a broken/pinched wire somewhere. The flashers are fine, replaceing them would do nothing. |

Re: turn signal help
i havent been on here lately, ive been having computer issues. but i figured out my problem just before we left. i didnt sleep all night cause i was thinking about it. we were leaving at 7am and it hit me about 5am. i remember i repainted the column back in february and maybe there was stuff on the contacts. i pulled the steering wheel back off and realized there was just enough over spray on the right contact. some lacquer thinner fixed my problem. but thanks guys for your input.

Glad you got the problem sorted and thanks for the followup. It gives people an idea of what to look for if they encounter the same situation LockDoc
