Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
After a year and a half of trying to track down the trailer owner I finally got this thing titled and took it out Saturday.
The trailer, that is. The wife and I grabbed some steaks and libations, Gassed (one tank) up and rolled about 40 miles to Davis Creek. Looks kinda cool. 80 Scottsdale and 77 Trailer. Tell ya what, the awning was worth the entire $500 I spent on the trailer!!! Too bad the Rallys are on the Blazer until I get some 33's for it. Anybody got an 8 track of Molly Hatchet?? - "RETRO" Dave

Looks good! Too bad you didn't get to pay "retro" prices on your gas.

Very cool, Man. What's the inside look like?
I'd like to pick up a mid-70's trailer to pull behind my dually as well. You can usually find them on Craig's List and the like relatively cheap. |

That a great pic looks like a good time. I just spent the last two days at the lake.
Heres one of my favorite pictures. Its my 86 blazer K5 (sold it a few months ago) and my 82 19' Cobalt boat. The colors even match!!!! RETRO

Re: Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
The inside WAS wood panel, yellow formica table top, and Harvest Gold fridge. Some Kilz, a gallon of Swiss Coffee paint and some contact paper and it's all been painted white. (Personally, I'd have left it panelled - retro...) Some discontinued Lowes self stick linoleum floor cover and some new fabric for all the cushions and - voila! I'm having some 12v electrical issues, but hey, that's why it's called camping rather than room service. I'll see if I can get some more pics. But here's a floor plan I plagiarized. And the logo for the spare cover - one of these days... - Dave

That is awesome, I pull a 2000 Coleman pop up behind my truck on a monthly basis. I have always wanted to get an old Airstream and restore it to haul to truck meets and car shows.

Re: Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
Maybe some of you can help...
I shorted a 12v power source (cigarette lighter port) and lost all lights in the trailer, except for the range hood, whichs seems to be on a circuit with the water pump & range fan. Is there a fuse or circuit breaker I should look for? I couldn't find anything obvious. Also, I'm looking for a basic (generic)wiring diagram for travel trailer electrical systems. And, yes, I Googled the heck out of it... Thanks! - Dave

Re: Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
Kinda hard to tell without seeing it first hand.
Typically RV's have a common panel that houses all the 12v/120v equipment. If you haven't already, I'd find that and start there. I'd also check your trailer wiring harness at the back of the truck just to make sure you still have power coming from the rig. Even if the running lights on your truck are still working, It's entirely possible to have an in line fuse on the wiring harness somewhere that popped. Just start where you know you have power and work your way back until you lose power. |

Still, the method stays the same. Start where you have power, then find out where the power stops. Again, I'd start @ the truck harness, then move my way back through the trailer. |

Re: Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
Our car trailer was made in 77, my dad bought brand new, extra length long tongue open center hideaway ramps, linco(sp?) axles 4 wheel brakes. One hell of a trailer compared to even todays standards, only downfall is that its only 80" wide, because of the laws back then. Now we can have 86" wide, so im thinking about finding someone to clone it so id have an all aluminum open center long tongue trailer, can you say lightweight on the highway?

if that picture was a little grainier with a yellow tint I would think I was looking at seen straight out of 1980.

Re: Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
Found the fuse block!! Under the sink where the 110v Breakers and inverter are. Blank 4x4 plate on inverter gang box holds the fuses.
We're good to go!! Thanks! - Dave

Re: Retro Camping - "That 70's Trailer!"
thats is very cool... I remember my parents having one of those similar types in the mid to late 80s that was pulled behind an 86 K5 blazer... then my dad got stupid and sold the camper, sold the blazer for a F**D...
