Plug Wires
Have an 83 with the 305 slug , looking for a set of plug wires that go over the heads instead of under, looked at both Jegs and Summit and not sure which ones would work the best, looking for suggestions

You could always buy a kit to make your own. Ive ordered several sets from an Ebay seller with the store name White Performance. The kits come with 8.5mm wires and were east to cut and assemble, even for someone with as little experience as me. I put a set of his wires and HEI dist. on the '73 Blazer I had and it ran MUCH better afterward. Ive got that same setup going on the 350 that is replacing my 305 this weekend.

You can get cut to fit wires and route them the way you want.

I would either go with the Taylor kit or a set of MSD 8 MM wires. What one wants to achieve is the most spark possible to the plug. The lower the resistance in the plug wire, the more HP you can get inthe cylinder. I have the MSD wires on the DD and a set of Taylors on my 385 stroker motor. I like both brands as a good performance wire.
I would say that you should not go to a local outlet and just buy ANY OLD set of wires, the quality can be questionable. |

Here are a few pics of the set I installed (I started out going over the valve covers but decided to go beside them) and a LINK to the seller. If I wasnt on a shoestring budget I might have gone with some MSD wires but these work great and so is the price.

Im going to secure the inline filter in the space previously occupied by the air pump and route the hose up and over the A/C delete pulley body to the carb.
