Water still in passenger side floorboard-Help.

I knew when I bought this blazer there was a leak going to the floorboard. Best I could tell, it was coming from the kickpanel area. Underneath the dash where the heater core and stuff was dry. I removed the cowl and put some sealent where I thought I detected a minor leak. Then I drove around with the carpet up for a while to see if I could catch it. Soon I noticed that now there was alot of water coming from where the a/c box and heater core are. I had noticed that the condensation wasn't really draining from the right place, but was draining. So this past weekend I took all of that apart cleaned, and resealed and put back together. I cleaned up the floorboard and resealed it. Now it seems to be draining properly instead of inside the cab.
I took it through a drive thru carwash yesterday with all the carpet still up and saw water coming in again from the flapper that opens and shuts for the a/c to recirculate located at the top of kickpanel (the quarter spherical piece of trim covers it). The thing is: If I put my hand up there thru the hole at the top of the kick panel area, then I could thouch hands with someone who has there hand down the cowl vent. All there is to seperate the two is another flapper that I assume is to shut off outside air for recirculate mode.
Which, even if it is shut is not going to be water tight.
I can't figure it out. Whats wrong with my Blazer?

I had have had two smilar leaks in my 76' Silverado. The first one came from the long seam under the cowl where the caulking GM used on the seam along the firewall had rotted away. I cleaned it up the best I could and put on some 3M sealant that i got at Autozone and that fixed it. A couple of years later it leaked again and I thought it was coming from the same place so I resealed it, however, the water kept coming in. It turned out to be coming from the seal around the flapper / vent on the passenger side of the truck that you are describing. I had a friend of mine who is a bodyman replace that seal and it is not leaking anymore (knocking on wood).

Like Greenlee said, your gasket is probably bad on the panel.

had simalar issur in my 1986 pickup (turns out that cauking thy used between the panels in the cowl goes bad) re cauk that with any form of sillicon and see what happens. (youll have to remove the cowl panel between windshield and hood and the pastic under that) ull see what i mean when u get there.

mine leaked in somewhat the same area and i tried all the above.i could have swore it was cowl,vents something from in that area.someone told me it was the windshield....i thought,"yeah right"..i'd already ran water down over it with a hose trying to figure it out.laying on my back with a flashlite looking all over up under there........guess what....it turned out to be the windshield.

hmmmm (u know i never thought about it but i did have the windshield replaced the same time i did that) OK you win i claim windshield but try cowl if no more then to clean it out

Since I have already resealed the inside of the cowl where it meets the firewall, what Greenlee is saying is making the most sense at this point.

So that cavity inside the kickpanel should be the flowpath of the cowl drainage right?

I took the kickpanel trim and flapper off. Is this the gasket that you are and the Captain are refering to?

Does everything else look ok?
It doesn't look too bad, but what should I do to replace it. I don't think they carry those at the dealer, much less the parts house. Can't use silicone--Maybe something from Lowe's?
There shouldn't be a gasket here right?

If you have water coming in from the kick panel vent look in the hole and see if there is trash in there because i think there in a drain hole so that could be blocked.

As far as I can tell, the water is draining fine, there is no retention. It feels nice and clean if I put my hand in there and down.
I put my hand in there and had my buddy pour water through the cowl. That is my drain path atleast. Its like water is just splashing in. The more I think about it the more that seal makes sense as the culprit. Also, after looking at that picture more, if I'm pointing at 6:30--Look at 4:00. It's gotta be that gasket, now the only question is: What is the best way to fix it?

get a thin piece of rubber and try to use the old one to copy.*or go to the boneyard and pull one and hope it good*
