The bottom 6" of the cab are too far gone for anyone in his right mind to consider saving. However, the upper portion of the cab is immaculate as far as I can tell. Absolutely no rust in the roof area where a lot of them are rotted. Either I need to sell the cab ASAP or haul it to the crusher. Hate to do that if someone can use it and is willing to give me whatever I'd get for it in scrap value.

For clarification, it's just the bare cab. Anything in those pics that can be detached has been detached since the pics were taken (e.g. visors, lamp, etc.).

If you are interested, let me know ASAP. I am hauling it to the scrapyard if no one claims it before 8/30. You can take the whole cab or I can cut it apart anywhere you tell me to. I can't deliver it anywhere but I'll work with you if you can arrange a pickup. The cab is located in Mankato, Minnesota. As far as price goes, make an offer. (Rules say I have to list a price, so here goes: $300 OBO.

Bump for one last shot at saving this from the crusher. City came by last night and said I need to get one of the cabs gone.

If there's a part of the cab you want, I've got a reciprocating saw and can section it up for you. The dash (non-AC) is *almost* unmolested -- the radio knob holes were widened about 1/4" for an aftermarket stereo but it wouldn't be visible with a factory unit installed (I believe -- don't have a factory radio to test, but the enlargement is contained within the "cup" area.) The firewall and vent boxes are also very nice.

I'm gonna haul it to the scrapyard this weekend if no one wants it. PM me if you can use anything from it.

How are the outer vent hole covers on the sides? If decent could you take a sawzall to the area?

Mine are shot on both sides.

To the best of my knowledge, they're completely solid. I'll check when I go home this afternoon. If you tell me exactly where you want them cut, I can do it tonight -- if they're solid, great. If not, back on the scrap pile they can go.

don't happen to have a plasma cutter do you?

Everything comes off pretty easily except for the area that touches the vertical support (where the door hinges bolt to). how much are you wanting for the trouble? I can use my own FEDEX account if you box them up and drop them off at a FEDEX location (or get it in the hands of a FEDEX ground driver)

This is the area. it's basically a cap over the inside vent, the vent will more than likey have to come out as well. If you can cut lower into the kick panel that would be great. Might be easier to just cut that main frame where the door hinges bolt too. if you are chopping up the cab for scrap then it will help you make a convertible out of the truck!

I'm never too busy to help someone else out, especially if it means saving him some work or not sending something to the scrap heap. I'll cut 'em off tonight and we can talk privately about a price when I get them off.

No plasma cutter, but a nice DeWalt recip saw and a pile o' blades.

thanks, i'll buy you a new pack of blades... Once you get it off you might be able to trim that main support off. It's only spot welded on the inside to the cover. of course then i'll owe you drill bits!

Here's the driver's side. Is this more than, less than, or exactly what you were hoping for? If it's more or just right, great -- I'll get to work on the other side. If it's less, tell me what more you need and I'll try to do a better job on the other side. Wasn't nearly as easy as I thought it might be -- too many angles and layers -- but far from difficult. Only problem right now is I am on my last blade and can't find the other pack I know is around here somewhere. Took two blades plus a cutoff wheel to get this one out so the other side will have to wait until I can restock my supplies.

What's really too bad is that it's been posted for sale here since 8/3 and 22 days later, a couple hours after I cut into it, someone comes along and says this. *shrug* No pleasing some people.

that looks pretty good. i figured it wouldn't be very easy. If you can go a little lower on the bottom sheetmetal piece then it would work even better. that's where mine are really rotted...

I wouldn't have cut it off as clean as you did, nice work!

It's like organ donation... a little part of your truck will live forever now!

Got the other one off. It was a little trickier because of the blower hole, which is exceptional and I didn't want to hack it up if I could avoid it. Hope this is more what you were looking for -- it's about as much as I could get.

I've got about an hour and a half of labor, a box of saw blades, and a cutoff wheel invested in this plus the nominal value of the scrap metal. Send what you think it's worth -- PM me for details for PayPal, mail, whatever.
