Re: Headlights

Yes, and I wouldn't waste my time with them again. They're horrible quality and aren't bright at all. I have also done the headlight wiring mod.

Re: Headlights

I agree with the cheapies. I bought some of them for my 4x4, but I have a set of Hella's for my c10 that I had in my 67 and they are very nice. If I were buying again I wouldn't get anything but hella's. I was better off with the stockers in the 4x4.

Best pass with the old dragtruck:
5.32 @ 131.6 mph 1/8 mile w/ a 1.25 60' Fogger/Plate 2003

Best pass with the street 406 hydraulic roller motor w/ mild plate tuneup
5.93 @ 114 mph 1/8 mile w/ a 1.29 60' 2003 or 2004

Re: Headlights

I had a set of cheapie tri-bar headlights in my truck & they were just fine, not saying that hellas & some others arent better, but for the $$$ mine were fine

I had brighter bulbs in mine & dont have a relay kit on my wiring, so Im sure there was room for improvement

Also, there is a HUGE difference in HID & just a H4 conversion, H4 is just a style of bulb & is a halogen

HID has a ballast & a Xenon bulb... Much brighter

Re: Headlights

I have the tri-bars with the relay's installed and love them. They light up the road well at night. I would say you can see at least twice as far down the road with these than I could with the stock lights.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Headlights

My 4x4 is an 85 with the 4 headlights. On bright it is extremely bright and you can see forever, but on just the low beams the performance is poor. I have the relay kit and 80/100 bulbs in that set with 100's in the high beams as well.

In the hellas I used relays as well on the 67 with same 80/100 bulbs and was very impressed.

Re: Headlights

mine turned a bit yellow, the bulbs that came with burned out, i had to modify my headlight bucket (that means cut away alot of it) and i can't aim them correctly, but that's because i broke 3 of my adjusters probably and gave up on aiming em.

but look at these i found

Re: Headlights

I put hid kits on all older model cars using h4 conversions. I have never had any trouble. Brothers trucks has the sealed beam conversion headlamps. its like 50 bucks for the pair and I have never had any trouble with them. the 7'' bulbs are for the single headlamps in all older cars. I have also installed these on 2: 55 bel air's one 72 chevelle a 79 trans am. and all these cars are using 8000k hid kits for about 2 years now without any trouble.
