Honest Abe's Shop Truck build
Alright this is our latest project truck. Will be our shop truck for quite awhile.
Its a 71' LWB almost all original equipment. Was converted to a floor shift over a column shift like 15+ years ago. Original 307 and 3 speed. The pictures speak for themselves. It is getting fully bagged, complete wiring harness, all new brakes and a few small sheetmetal patches at the moment. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build
What is the purpose of the U shaped bracket that is welded on top of the rear? I see it's not there in the last pics.

And the notch is all miter cut camfered and welded. It is super strong. We used the same style notch on a dually with a 5th wheel and he pulled a 44' flatbed loaded with trucks on it. So I have no doubts about the notch or the strength. Thanks for the input guys. Its comming alot. Just waiting on more parts as usual right now. |

Looks good.
BTW, get and/or use a welding helmet. Your eyes will thank you many years from now. ![]()

Haha yea. Ryan is the one in the pics. (He is my business partner and certified welder) He often doesnt use a hood when just tacking things in place. But always uses one on finish welds.

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build
Thanks guys. Work is slow at the moment. I am having to deal with someone I ordered parts from and I havent seen the part arrive yet. Its been almost a month and hes only a 4 hour drive from me. Soo... progress has come to a halt until I can get this issue resolved.
