my 71 makes me happy

In another thread I stated that Im selling my 97 and daily driving my 71. SOOO after a few days of driving it around basicaly my ranch and once to the gas station, the 71 rides better starts faster and is more air tight. You liteerally have to roll the window down a bit to get the door to shut! 71 has no radio but that hasnt bothered me.

The bad: it needs cleaned up in a serious way. It has a new road demon carb (new does not = good) I dont like the carb. It needs a tune up. The pass window will not budge! Ill have to tear into that. Lots of stuff needs reaganged, wires and things hanging under the dash and the truck. It needs greased lubed ect. and it needs a trans line fixed.

I LOVE IT!

Re: my 71 makes me happy

I hear you bro! I loved my 69 C10 daily driver until it was stolen. I replaced the engine with a new crate inline 6 and replaced everything that could be bought aftermarket. I loved it better than my 06. That's why I'm starting on another oldie-but-goodie.
Have fun with it and enjoy all of those moments such as "tearing into that window."

Re: my 71 makes me happy

I am with you 100%!!!!
As much as I hate to say this but the most fun I have had with mine is fixing or replacing parts on it....The biggest thing is once you fix one thing something else pops up, it is like the never ending story....

I still DO NOT like driving mine, the springs/bushings are shot and it wallows all
over the road. I also cannot take the top off until I fix the tub and replace the body mounts so just short jaunts around are all that I can stand! Is that wrong?

Glad yours is working out so well for you!
