Rear Leaf Springs

I have a 1971 Chevy C10 short bed with rear leaf springs. Is this optional? I thought they came with coils.

From what I understand, coils were standard on Chevrolet's and Leaf springs were standard on the GMC's, but you could order either rear suspension setup with either truck.
I have a '71 GMC 1/2 tonner and it has leaves with factory helpers in the back,I kinda wish it had coils in it, but beggars can't be choosers! Maybe somebody will want my leaves someday and I can put the trailing arm setup in it!!!
Hope this helps!
