I couldn't help myself!! I have been a bad, bad boy!!

I just bought a 72 Big Block Cheyenne 20 with A/C, 3.54 possi rear, rear slider, and a factory chrome step bumper. I said I wasn't going to buy one for a long time, but I was wrong... I just drove it home... What do you think? WES

Re: I couldn't help myself!! I have been a bad, bad boy!!

Ok WES...I have the answer for you. You said: "I wasn't going to buy one for a long time, but I was wrong..." The key is to define the words "LONG TIME". This can be defined in so many ways that if you waited a day that would be a "long time" when compared to a second. So in actuality you have kept your word so your honor is still in tact! By the way...nice truck. There is no cure for Chevyidis!

Ya!!! I never thought about it in those terms. I guess that I haven't been so bad after all. Thanks 70cst, for putting it in perspective for me. WES

Re: I couldn't help myself!! I have been a bad, bad boy!!

No real plans for it yet. Just drive it for a while. It needs ball joints and a tie rod end, other than that it's a good daily driver as is. I just couldn't let it go to the wrecking yard. That was where it would have gone if I haddn't of stepped up to buy it. There is also some, but verry minor rust repair for someone who wants to restore it. I will just play it by ear for now and see how some of my other projects progress. WES

Very nice score - I love black pickups. I can't believe that was going to the crusher.

Re: I couldn't help myself!! I have been a bad, bad boy!!

Thank you everyone and yep, it was on it's way to the crusher. The previouse owner said that the motor died leaving him on the side of the road while pulling a horse trailer in the hills. He told me the symtoms it had and I thought, that is just a fuel problem. Bad screen in tank, bad fuel line, plugged filter, or at worst debree in the carb floating around. I explained that to him and that I thought that it would be a simple fix. He explained to me that once a vehicle leaves him stranded on the side of the road, it's curtains for the vehicle no matter how much he likes it. (original owner) He said that he knows how much I like these trucks and since I had helped him fix a problem on the truck (a few years back) that he would give me first crack at it befor he took it to the wrecking yard. Anyway we came to an agreement on a price and well here it is... WES

Pretty cool that he sold it to you with you explaining that the problem is likely not that big of a deal - as if we needed any more proof that you're a good guy, there it is!

Nice truck, enjoy it, maybe let the hood ornament fall off . . . just my take on it.

Re: I couldn't help myself!! I have been a bad, bad boy!!

it would seem as though you have a truck problem. I am working on a 13 step recovery program. I have the first two steps figured out.

1. Send me truck to aliviate you of the enableing object of your addiction.
2. Send me lots of money for *ahem* "disposal" of said item....

Re: I couldn't help myself!! I have been a bad, bad boy!!

Thanks again. I am sure that the hood orniment, bug deflector, mirrors and running boards will fall off pretty quickly. I may even have a freind with a black hood to replace this one, because it will have a few holes to repair...lol I need to look around here for a couple of replacement tripod mirrors. WES
