timing issue

okay, we checked my timing today with the timing light, but i dont have the little metal label to tell me what its set at. so we set the initial timing by ear.
we just retarded it a little tiny bit, and it seems to run smoother and gets me more power, but it looks like it is hurting my gas milege also.

but it did make me more power for sure, i can feel that

Here's a good thread on timing.

There's also a post about half way down describing "power timing". Follow that and it should keep your engine out of trouble (gas mileage and detonation)
