does anybody remember an article in truckin magazine about 1999-2000 called red rocker. about someone i think in Az. that took a square body crew cab dually, and shortened it to a short bed with the fiberglass fenders. and i think it was lowered some. if someone has it, could it be put on this site some how ? thanks, Art

thanks budgetstperformance, thats a bad looking crew hillshotrods has, i have that article. the one i'm looking for was back around 1999 in truckin ( i think ). it was a dual wheel one ton that had been built into a short bed with dually fenders. i remember the article, just can't find it. thanks again, Art

If I remember the article correctly that truck is supposed to have started out as a 3/4 ton crew cab short box and it was just customized and lowered and still has the eight lug axles under it because they use it as a hauler.

was there a crew cab short bed? thought crews only came as long beds?

did you mean someone already shortened the frame and put a short bed before hills got it?

i agree with the looks of a short bed crew. i don't think G. m. had a short bed crew cab in the square body. i may be wrong, lets ask capt. he will know. what about it capt. ?

Red Rocker was a standard cab truck, not a crew cab...the truck above is NOT Red Rocker...unless it was turned into a crew cab.

I think you are mixing a number of builds in there..
Red Rocker was Travis Novaks truck the Hills built it was a regular cab as Jeff pointed out.
The Shortened Crew Cab was a 3/4T but it has no fiberglass fenders.

No, GM did not make a 73-87 CC SWB. They were all LWB in either single wheel or dual wheel configuration. They did not offer a SWB CC until 98, and that was a 2500 series.

I may have possibly seen one exception . There is a square body running around Huntsville ,Tx on a prison camp . It is a crew cab short bed 4 wheel drive . I cant fihure out why the state woould have created it so I figure they must have bought it that way . And since they usually buy them new and use them until they wont move anymore , I wonder about this one . I also wonder if it is a Mexico built truck . I would have liked to get pics , but when I am servicing pumps on a Prison ground , I try not to look suspicious or make any sudden moves .

I think it was actually '99 for the first GM version.
Although...
I owned a '98 4x4 CC SWB 2500.
BUT...
It was a conversion done by Centurion.
