When smaller is better...

I never really liked the 3" trim rings that came with my rim set. I felt that they hid the slots of the rallys too much, but it was always low on my list of things to replace.

I saw a nice set of trim rings for sale at charlotte so I bought them. They're "supposed" to be for 15x6 rallys, but they fit well on my 15x8's.

Before (as you can see, a little of the slots are covered) :



They look "hidden" in this pic:



And another reason why I disliked the rings...

No more dragtruck for me. I'm building a new ride though. It's a '71 fleetside, 400 sbc, 700R4. Working on it now, finally. Soon to have Edelbrock Pro Flo EFI, Vintage Air, 1 piece windows, buddy buckets, etc.

I wish I had more time. I didn't even have time to check out the car show

I drove my S-10, not the 67. I planned on buying a new (used) hood (and found one) so I didn't want to mess up my 67's bed. I do usually drive it there, but it's in the parking lot, not the show.

When I quit spending $$$ on my wedding/honemoon. If you want to send me the parts I'll install them (I also need new rear bushings/etc. so I might as well do a rear "clean-up" while I'm at it.)

Do you mean the blue bowties? They're center cap stickers I got them off of fleabay. Hard to find, everyone has black and red ones. I'll see if I can find a link. If you mean the whole centers, they're just cheap plastic knock off rally centers.

Edit: can't seem to find any I bought mine over 2 years ago. Ebay will only show you your 60 day history.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I could have walked right past you 5 times and not seen you! I was so focused on looking for the parts I wanted I zoned out everything else (I only had 4 hours to search the whole swap meet!) I was zippin around in my red s10 at around 5pm in the swap meet area trying to pick up my stuff before the vendors left (I really wasn't zippin', I was going slow )

It's kinda funny, I'm only a cab and frame shy of saying, "hey honey, you know what, I have enough parts to "just make another truck.""

But yeah, my hood is way more tweaked than it looks. You've seen it in person, it looks ok, but up close it looks like crap. There's also a good bit of "hidden" damage. It was in a front end wreck of some kinda at one point (not my doing, red circle), and it almost looked like it had hail damage (I got most of that with bondo, but I missed a couple spots ), and it's rippled along the edges (yellow circle) and it's has the typical "bent peak" (green circle.) There's also a couple tiny rust bubbles starting on the bottom edge of the hood (not visible when hood is down.)

The hood I bought is damn near perfect. I couldn't find any dings in it at all. If they're there, they're tiny!

It probably won't be on the truck for a couple/few years, but I can cross it off my "wish list" now. I saved the factory doors from it too, they have typical south east rust damage (not bad, but needs to be cut out) that I didn't have the skills/balls to attempt to fix, but I'm going to try soon anyway

The truck will remain "untouched" for a couple more years. I've got that fleet bed to build first

I actually came back for a few minutes to look at the blue vinyl "cheyenne" seat covers one last time! But my finances are a little stretched from the wedding/honeymoon so my better judgement kicked in. Maybe next spring!

When I decided to put 80's vintage truck ralllies on my "ole Blue," I couldn't find but three of the correct wide/deep rings which were not fully dinged-up or badly curb-rashed, so I went with the (much easier to find) more narrow "van-width" rings.

Now, I don't think I would ever go back to the "wide" rings, even if I could find them without buying a new repro'd set.
