dipstick for 700R4's

I've got a 700 bolted up to my 400 sb. I bought a Lokar tranny dipstick, but the thing is made for a street rod is only about 6 inches long. The top the stick doesn't even make it over my headers, making it impossible to get to. What dipsticks have been used by u guys? Thought about just getting a 88-up truck dipstick, but i'd like one to match my kickdown and engine dipstick.

I too bought the short one. I didn't like the idea of bolting the long one to the firewall. I just fabbed a simple bracket to "extend" the Lokar bracket. Mine now is more vertical behind the intake. Hope this helps.

I just went to the local Chevy dealer and got one over the parts counter.

I don't think it honestly matters a whole lot what vehicle it's for, either...think about it, the transmission and engine are in the exact same place relative to each other in any vehicle that combo goes in.

Go to the dealer and get one for a vette, like around a 90 model, it is long, and comes up behind and over the top of the passagenger side valve cover, but it is high enough to clear the valve cover if you have to pull the cover. The end will be plastic, the end also hinges up and turns into a handle, so you can pull on it. Works great and very very easy to get too
