1999 454 Vortec

In an effort to clean out my garage of projects, I offer a 1999 Vortec 454 with the stock multiport EFI intake (I do not have the Vortec harness or computer, both available on Ebay for less than 500 total).

I do have a complete 454SS Throttle Body Injection set up, with an Edelbrock Performer Intake, Big Bore TBI and computer tuned for this set up. I also have a complete GMPP Serp set up that could bolt onto this. This is the PS Pump, 145Amp CS Alternator, AC bracket with the AC delete pulley and a reverse rotation high flow water pump.

History:
This engine was a GM pullout due to the owner complaining of noise in 2000, with 30K on the odometer. The GM tech that pulled it went through, could not find a problem with it. The dealership elected to replace it anyway, which of course gave the truck's owner another 36K miles of warranty on the motor... I bought it from the dealership.

I have it apart today and although everything looks good, if I ran this, I would probably do a re-ring kit from Summit and replace all the internal wear-ables. Crank will polish as a standard and a simple hone will keep the pistons/rings standard, too. Heads are gorgeous. Cam is stock, I would probably swap it for something more fun. Should be noted that this is a full roller cam BBC with a externally similar casting as the ones in our 70's trucks. Just a higher revving motor with a higher HP rating

This motor's offered a few ways:
  1. As is, needing the wear-ables: 1000 plus the ride (heads are worth that, (BBC Vortec heads are supposed to be the best swap onto older motors)
  2. With new wear-ables from Summit, a Pete Jackson timing gear drive, complete motor, just add harness, computer and accessories ( can also help source those for additional funds): 1900 plus the ride
  3. 2nd option plus Edelbrock Performer TBI intake, 454SS TBI injection with swap harness and computer, serp belt set up and alternator and power steering pump; ready to go into your truck: 2550.00 plus the ride.

I would like to be in line for option 1, could you get it on a pallet and strap it down for shipping?

What do you think the weight would be? I am going to contact Fed X Frieght and get an estimate from them first.

800lbs, give or take.

I can also drop it off at their closest terminal, which should be in 30 miles or less.

I asked a buddy of mine to look into picking it up. He drives a 53' tractor trailer, moving families along the East-West corridor.

Re: 1999 454 Vortec

Ok, Jim said he would do it for 300.00 with some conditions:

1-The guy would have to be patient. He's currently in Ca and heading back this way, first.
2-He pays everything up front, shipping cost to my paypal account
3- He has to take delivery whenever i get there. Which could be anytime between 6am and 10pm on any day.
4- He must have a way to pick it up off my trailer.
