About to go to Tucson with the heater on!!! Help!!!
I just got new heater levers and cables in my non a/c 72. Now it blows hot as heck when I am driving. It is not the fan it is just coming out the vents when I get moving. I can't get the cable that goes inside the heater box to move that little flapper (which way is closed?) and I'm not sure I have the right cables in the right place. I'm driving it to Tucson real soon and don't need any more heat.

You may want to bypass your heater core until you get it figured out. If you have air there should be a shutoff. Mine dont so I installed a manual one I bought from napa because I could not get my "flap" to colse air tight.
You may have a bunch of crap in your heater from leaves getting into the cowel. If you dont have air: The lever marked heat should go to the flap that is far right beside the passenger air vent. The lever that has the air fan on it hooks to the lever on the bottom of the heater The defrost hooks to the lever that you can see below the radio. Good luck and have a safe trip ------------------ Rod Childers '71 C10 Stepside

just get a quarter turn shut off valve from any parts house, or simply pinch the hose off with a pair of vise grips and 2 thin pieces of flat steel......unless your hoses are getting old, then, i wouldn't try the vise grip thing, big leaks happen fast.
