cheapest fix for bed floor?
what will be the cheapest fix in replacing a rusted bed floor? what kind of metal can be used? i dont care for the humps on the bed floor, it can all be plain/flat for what i want.... i do not want to go with the wooden floor cause im not real easy when it comes throwing stuff in back of the bed.
thanks!

Re: cheapest fix for bed floor?
you might try finding a salvage yard that has several old big road signs. They are aluminum so they won't rust, but it would be fairly cheap and effective.

Re: cheapest fix for bed floor?
Thats alot of diamond plate wasn't the cost high? I thought about doing the same thing on my 68. I've got about 3 50cent piece size holes by the cab.

Re: cheapest fix for bed floor?
the problem with placing diamond plate or other metal over the existing floor is moisture gets trapped between the two and causes it to rust even further. the PO did that to my 71 and boy what a mess that was i just cut it all out including the stock floor
*edit* what i did for bed sills is cut 6' sections of 2x3 steel tubing. and my plans are to completely sheet metal the floor/sides. (eventually)

Re: cheapest fix for bed floor?
we replaced ours with 3/16 diamond plate.we took all the bolts out and had just anouf of it left to lay on top and cut out a new floor.we used 2x3 tubing and some angle iron to make all new floor supports.then we primed it with expoy primer and then painted it.i think we have $ 150 in it.
