1947-1954 GMC pickup stepside tailgate
I believe this is a 1947 to 1954 GMC Stepside pickup tailgate.
Solid condition. A few small holes drilled some time ago. There is a slight bow in the top but this is great for a driver or with some TLC can be a nice piece. Asking $75 Prefer local pickup. Located in Rochester, Michigan about 1/2 hour north of Detroit.

Re: 1947-1954 GMC pickup stepside tailgate
Any interest if I come up with packaging to ship this item to the lower 48?

The '54 tail gate and box are different. I should have saved my old gate skin for wall art.

Thanks for the info. I was going by what a few others here told me in another thread.

Re: 1947-1954 GMC pickup stepside tailgate
Just to clarify, I believe 1947-1952 gates are the same, 1953 trucks saw the updated bed.

Re: 1947-1954 GMC pickup stepside tailgate
That's a more comprehensive look at the gates, what I meant was not the lettering, but the actual gate size should be different, 53+ is a taller gate I think.

Re: 1947-1954 GMC pickup stepside tailgate
Actually 54 is the first year the bed rails were flat/horizontal as opposed to the angle of the earlier models. Deeper beds and the frame rails were not as humped up as the earlier models. So the tailgate shown is for 54 or later model. Also another way to tell is how the chains hold the gate up. The earlier models hook throught the side I guess you would say. FWIW

That gate works for 54-86 GM stepside trucks.
