Gen III guys: power steering and radiator hoses
You guys that swapped in gen 3 engines into your trucks, what did you do for radiator hoses and power steering hoses?
I'm running corvette accessories, so mine may be a little different than the truck or f-body accesories, but some help will get me started. I camaro radiator hoses, and they're too small of diameter and too short to fit. I know I can make them fit, but wanted to see how some of you all overcame these issues. Thanks |

on the PS hoses you'll be forced to make them, either by getting AN fitting and verios adaptors, or haveing a A/C hose repair shop make it for ya..(most do PS hoses too) ....as far as the rad hoses i assume you need the upper....what ive heard alot of people do is bend a clothes hanger to the shape and rummage through the parts store..

The clothes hangar method works really well, I've done it countless times and usually end up happy. I end up coming home with 4-5 ones that I think are close, then return the ones I didn't use.

I used the factory rad hoses, but I have a truck motor. On the PS, the return side is easy. But on the pressure, I used the factory 5.3 hose, cut it off, then crimped on a gates hydraulic fitting that screws into the steering box. I believe the part number is G25504-0607. Works great.

The return side is just a hose held on with hose clamps. Cut to the appropriate length and attach....easy.

i answered your PM on LS1 tech: Use the stock 68-72 low pressure power line - it just hose-clamps to the low pressure side of the pump resevoir.
For the high pressure side, get a high pressure F-body line, and a high pressure 68-72 truck line, measure for approximate length and have a hydraulic shop merge the two halves you need. As for the radiator hoses, I just got the stainless steel bendy ones, I bought them at a cheapy shop online rather than paying a fortune for namebrand, didn't want to be using rubber hoses, too much of a pain.

Maybe a stupid question, which port on the power steering gear box is the high pressure supply, and which one is the return?

Pretty sure the bigger one is pressure, but it's been a few months since I've looked.
The fitting costs about $12. |

I screwed the stock steering line right into the reservoir on the 6.0L. Not sure if they are actually the same thread or not but it went in smooth and has never leaked. Just my .02

yep I did what I think boost said I rmoved the fittings from the pump on my stock one and the 5.3 one and swapped them then just used my factory (stock) one from my truck
worked great 15,000 miles later no problems
