What do you guys think would be better? One 16" electric fan or TWO 12" electric fans? Also would It provide adequite cooling if I just took out the belt driven fan and replaced it with an electric fan of the same size? Thanks

I can vouch for a single fan setup... I think it's a 16 inch, 2800 cfm unit that has to pull air through a trans cooler, a/c condensor and 4 row radiator... keeps the truck cool in heavy traffic during the summer with the a/c on in southern cali...

double fans would probably work just as well, but might make more noise, if that's a concern...

Mine is mounted inside the stock fan shroud...

Most fan units i've seen use 2 12's. The flexalite setup I have uses 2 12's and is rated for a big block. Find the CFM of a 12" fan and multiply it by 2. If thats more than the 16" fan you want to use, then stick with them.

I put 2 12" fans each from a 91 lumina, they pull a lot of air! You can hear them when they turn on but not while driving and only from outside, just barely from in the cab with the engine off. They have worked good for me, much quieter than our 79 chev with direct engine driven fan. I had to make custom brakets though. but not too hard.

Yea I would love to put a dual 12" fan set up in my truck but being a collage kid money is tight and a single 16" with the stock fan shroud is sounding very appealing.

my total cost for the two good fans was $60 cnd at a yard that takes em off for you, If I you take the time to get em yourself in a pick a part place I bet you could get them for less than $10 each, then just a parts store relay, some wire and a switch if you keep an eye on your guages, or a thermostat isn't that much. front wheel drive cars are pretty easy to find in yards! just get 2 of the same fans from something with a v6, should in theory have enough air for two of those engines so should be good for 1 v-8. lots cheaper than aftermarket stuff, just have to take the time to make some brakets. if you run the blade right up close to the fins you don't need a shroud and air is free to flow when the fans are off too.
