New to the Forum

Wanted to introduce myself as a new member, and post a pic of one of my trucks. I am currently working on a second "72" to use as a hauler for this black truck. The black truck has been complete since 2000. It contains the following modifications:

- 13-1 468 Big Block Engine Dyno number was 690hp (10 years ago)
- 10 point roll cage
- Dana 60 rear end with Strange 35 spline axles, spool and 4.88 gear
- 6" cowl hood
- 31 x 18.5 ET Street rear tires all on aluminum Drag Stars
- All Steel except for the hood.

Enjoy!

Believe it or not, it has not gone down the track. I built it to race, but it turned out so nice, that everyone I know that races said stay away from the track.

The engine is out of a dragboat I used to race. It ran in the 10 second brackets. So I figure I am safe to tell you that it should run 11s safely.

Thanks

The other truck is another $500.00 special. As was the Black truck. This one will be at stock ride height for now, but will be painted Black and Red. Chip Foose just did one with a similar paint job.

Very nice looking truck and you can never post enough pics around here. Is your hauler going to pull the black truck on a trailer, or like a roll back tow truck?

It will pull the Black truck on it's trailer. I drive it most places, but if I take it on a road trip, 110 octain is hard to come by.

I'm not sure if I should just build a stock height version of the balck truck, or do something different to the second one. I am leaning toward having two distinctly different trucks. Maybe red and black or something. It is dark green with large hints of rust right now.

Re: New to the Forum

I only wish my 68 was set up like that. Your truck is very nice.
What did you do besides cut the rearend to install the 31X18.50's ?
Did you cut the frame? I want to run 33X21.50 on my 68, just trying to understand how to do the frame modifications. Could you post some pictures of how you have the rear section set up? I would appreciate it.

If anyone on this board has any pictures of frames that have been narrowed and wouldnt mind showing, I would love to see them.

Thanks for eveyones time.

The frame has been cut off just behind the original trail arm cross member. Attached is a picture.

Hey;

After thinking about it, when I did the rear frame section of my truck, I pulled an article from "Truckin" mag. It had a step by step article on how to prostreet the rear of 67-72 Chevy trucks. It was complete with pictures and all. I have the article somewhere, if you are intrested, I will dig it up and we can figure out how to get a copy to you or anyone else intrested. If my memory serves me, it showes you how to place coil over shocks, ladder bars, panhard bar, and wheel tubs. It also gets you started with showing you where to cut the bed floor for t he section to protrude thru. Let me know if you are intrested.
