What did you get done? 10/26

I was on call all weekend so I didn't get much done. Cleaned up the daily drivers and did some yard/pool maintenance. Got the tires rotated on my 06 Silverado and drooled over the new GMC Acadia's parked on the lot next to the tire store. If the full size SUV market comes back I might consider selling the Denali.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 10/26

I pulled my distributor to check on its condition, needless to say it was in pretty bad shape. Going to clean it up and get a new cap, rotoe and advance kit to hopefully finally get rid of the miss it has had the last week or so.

I got the outside of the truck mostly together. I only lack the rear bumper and side trim.

Re: What did you get done? 10/26

Left work early Friday (well, early for me.... 2pm) & was able to make it out to the Ft.Worth/LaGrange Field swap-meet for about an hour. Long enough to pick up a rear bumper 'kit'.

Worked all day Sat. Today we managed to strip the 68 down to just the cab on a rolling chassis & we hit HomeDepot for some stuff to build a cab dolly. Hopefully this week I'll have the cab off & out of here. That should appease the code enforcement as 'progress being made' to remove the vehicle from my property.

After this week..... there will be a moment of silence for the 68 Beater. At least it's last days were spent giving the 'gift of life' to other projects.

got all the electrical gremlins worked out on the burb. got a new cap and rotor on the 84, did oil changes. also lost a narrow trim ring off the burb somewhere. looked all over town for another but can't find one. everybody has the deep ones but no one has the narrow ones.

Worked on my 82 swb. Have had since high school. Has not been on the road in 10 years. Changed gas tank, trimmed lower a arms, installed bed, and putting a front end on it tomorrow. I am tired of just looking at it. I ready to drive it ! ! !

Pulled the seat out of the 70, heading to upholstery. Removed blower motor and vacumed out all the leaves in the heater assembly, installed new defroster hoses.

I was trying to set my lash adjustment for my engine swap, and totally confused myself. I set my engine to top dead center, but the mark on the balancer is at 12 oclock, way off from the timing tab. I will figure it out eventually.

Last of the parts finally came in.I finished building the vortec head 355 for my 80,installed it broke it in,tweaked it and drove the 3hr drive home problem free.
Today I pulled the plugs to check them and played with the new carb a bit.Tomorrow comes the 500 km oil change.

Re: What did you get done? 10/26

Fired up the tractor and lifted the $50 305 long block out of the bed of my '99 (where it's been on for a month). Went to an auction and picked up some Strombergs, a 94 and a 97, $2 each. Made some Craiglist checks, may be getting some parts soon... Oh, and spend 20+ hours picking up the debris from the residing of the house (including most of the rotting deck)..

Saturday was spent with the family, we went to the Halloween parade and had a blast. Sunday I spent most of the day stripping down the 'burb...in the cold...and in the rain.

I touched up some spots in the door jams with refrigerator spray paint, installed a new mini-starter and lower radiator hose, and put on my new bargain wheels and drove to a local show/drag race... Nothing spectacular but got a couple "wanna sell it" flag downs on the way.

Here's a pic as it sits now.

Re: What did you get done? 10/26

I managed to get the painted cab back to my house Fri night from my dad's, where it has been sitting for the last 3 or 4 months since he painted it. Got it moved onto the frame saturday morning before had to go to a wedding, then yesterday got the whole bottom of it painted with Por-15, cut the whole in the floor to drop my 4x4 hump on it, and got all the bed floor members, gas tank, and straps, lift springs, and all the misc pieces painted up to start the reinstall on the truck. Bed is also all painted, and just needs to get back to one piece soon. Was a rather productive weekend for what little time I spent in the garage.

Here are some teasers
