I'm relocating- Truck is up for sale

I didn't see this anywhere in the rules so I'm doing a little advertising. Long story short, I'm driving up to PA this Saturday (11/8) and I'm looking to sell my 68 LWB.

Here's the link...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...ct=2774&cat=12

Take Ole Blue off of my hands.

Thanks man. In the worst case, I'll just drive it up. I'd much rather leave him in good hands in Texas though...

I agree, bring it up and rent a spot at the Spring Carlisle show and sell that sucker... I don't know what you have invested but a good clean (rust free) truck will bring over $5K here...

Lots of board members in the area as well... I'm in Lebanon

Re: I'm relocating- Truck is up for sale

Thanks for the advice all. I really am wanting to keep this truck. But besides wanting to keep it rust free, I'm also gonna have storage issues. Not too mention I'm not looking forwad to a second 20 hour road trip...

One question. I have a 69 GMC and it I have the chrome that came with it.
Chrome went on the sides like yours but also around the wheel arch and tailgate, etc.. Are the chrome strips on the side stock on yours?

I wonder if there is a typo here... your screen name is 68 gmsee, the trim you describe is for a 68, but you say 69...
the 67/68 lower trim did go over the wheel openings... 69 - 72 did not.

Good eyes. At some point a PO removed the stock trim filled in the upper trim and put what looks like 71/72 black trim on the bottom.

The trim on the bottom looks to be 88+ style stick on trim. they sell it in rolls at the parts stores. It looks pretty good on your truck. If my niece was actually able to drive, and she had the money, I would buy it from you. She is convinced she wants a 67-72 Chevy truck (with a little help from her uncle ) Unfortunately she is only 14 at the moment. Good luck with your sale, but secretly I agree, you should keep it.

Re: I'm relocating- Truck is up for sale

spent 35 years on the canadian border in NY - only owned 1 4x4 all those years - it was my plow truck and not road worthy. NEVER had an issue. 4 years ago, went up to visit my daughters - 81 was closed but I had made it past the snow piled up at the exit (thought it was a drift) - wouldn't have been able to make it to watertown if I didn't have the 4 wheel drive - go figure. I figure it was because I had a North Carolina drivers license and tags on the truck I don't envy anyone heading north. Did I mention, the 4x4 is a good deal? good luck!

That's a nice looking truck. I don't blame you for selling it and I don't blame you if you keep it.

Should you keep it, you might spray a rubberized undercoating to fend off that salt. I bought the stuff Wal-Mart sells and it's worked pretty good.

Re: I'm relocating- Truck is up for sale

You really do NOT need to store a vehicle inside to keep it from rusting in the rust belt. Inside is better but if you just keep it off the roads during salt season, you'll be just fine.

I'd keep it and do like the rest of us in the rust belt, get a "winter beater".

The best winter beater I ever had was a 1971 Monte Carlo. Since I had two Chevelles under wraps for the winter, parts like starters, alternators, batteries, etc. were just nabbed off one of the hibernating vehicles. To that line you could pick up a 67-72 up there already with rust issues and drive it in the winter.

Just don't complain come spring when you forget what goes where. Not that that ever happened to me before

A couple of falls ago I helped a bud move from Lander, WY to Fergus Falls, MN. 800+ miles one way. He pulled his 67 on a flat bed and I drove his Youkon pulling another trailer full of crap. CB radios, a few pit stops, and about 16 hours one way.

I say keep it.

Re: I'm relocating- Truck is up for sale

PA isn't MN either... just keep it off the road like they said...

but if your from PA then you know the drill... Rent a storage unit for three months and keep it out of the white stuff...

You can drop it off in NC and I'll watch it for you.... AND while you are here, you can buy my 4x4 to take up to PA.... sounds good to me anyhow.
