Leaking Transmission Pan
I have been trying to track down a leak on my TH-350. After replacing a bunch of seals and O-rings, I put everything back together Saturday with a new Mr. Gasket chrome pan that I bought because it has a drain plug. The thing still leaks!
It is leaking around the two pan bolts in the back. The fluid is coming from around the heads of the two bolts that are partially blocked by the crossmember. What would cause this? How can I fix it? The pan and gasket are both new, so that should not be the problem. Theyt are not overtightened, and I even tried tightening them up a little more, but it still leaks. Any suggestions? The only suggestion I have is to load that area down with RTV. Make sure you get the bolt holes real well!

After several days worth of cleaning, replacing parts, and running back and for the between the house, the dealer, a trans shop, and several parts stores buying and taking back wrong parts (why can't anyone sell me the right part the first time?), I am really hoping to avoid the "smear everything with RTV" approach!

I don't know if the stock pan leaked there or not. The transmission was one big dirty leaking mess. I could not figure out where it was leaking from, so out of frustration I just replaced every o-ring and seal that I could get to.

Did you use some course sandpaper to scuff the gasket surface of the chrome pan? A chrome anything will not seal good unless you do.

I scuffed it with coarse sandpaper. I was not able to scuff it much, though. More like scratch it a little. The chrome was a lot tougher than I expected.
