ok so a friend of mine has a 03 trailblazer and he needs a thermostat anyone have a good way to do it. it has the dumb inline 6 and the thing is on the right side of the motor behind the alt. it looks like a pain in the butt!!!

why cant they just put it on top like a normal truck would have. any help would be great!!

I haven't had to change one, but it looks like the water outlet and thermostat are one piece just like on the ls motors. The NAPA part number is THM 426190. I'm not at work right now so I'm not sure about the dollars, probably about $30 ish (just a guess). Sorry I couldn't be more help.

i can do them in 20mins through wheel well on a lift with tire off not removing anything else
buy a 10mm swivel 1/4 drive socket and a long extension and its easy(don't qoute me on the 10mm but im pretty sure)

well i saw the bottum bolt but not the top. you can get it that way?

ya buy the new one (gm preferablly)and reach up and feel for it this is were a swivel socket will help

ok well i got a new one and as soon as the tool guy gets here i will get a socket. ill let you know how it goes thanks for the help!! can i just clamp off the hose so it doesn't drain all the fluid?

im messy i always let the coolant go but you can clamp it off and when you get the socket wrap a little electric tape around it to give it less flex and use a piece of paper or plastic to hold bolts in they fall straight down and sit on side of motor good luck hope its as easy for you

well i cant get the guy to call me back! i picked up the 35 dollar part and have all the tools ready and the garage cleared but i cant get ahold of they guy to save myself..... ill let you know when i get it done! thanks for the help!

ha i did it!! it took me a little more then twenty minutes (around an hour) but i think the next time it will go better. the hard part was getting my hands in there to get the hose off. thanks again for the help and i am sure glad i got that swivel socket what a life saver!!
