To trade or not to?

I was given a option to trade my truck for the newer chevy below what do you guys think?

Truck description: 350 v8 700r4 trans its 2wd power windows straight pipes no headers just blue streak glass packs no dents good interior no tears or anything has small crack in the windshield small dent on tailgate.
NOW MY TRUCK:

Now I have always been partial for the older Chevy's but this truck is pretty clean. So I'm kinda stuck and wanted to see what you guys thought. Both trucks are daily drivers.

x2

Slap a paint job on yours and have a real truck. If you ever got in a wreck you'd be grateful have all that heavy American steel around you. The 73 up were way tinnier.

The 73's will NEVER have the apppeal of the 67-72 series. To me the 73 is just another nice Chevy truck while the 67-72 are ICON's. Your choice though. Read the above and then make a desicion.

Re: To trade or not to?

That truck isn`t really much newer,if that`s your motivation.I don`t think the newer truck is nice enough to pry me from the`67 if it was mine.

Re: To trade or not to?

Keep the '67... as soon as you let it go, you'll regret your decision.

But.. it also depends on how much work it would take to make the '67 look like the otehr truck (according to the pics). Weigh everything out and see what will work best for your situation.

Re: To trade or not to?

I think it depends on how attached you are to the '67. Old Yeller is in the final stages of it's restoration after a lot more money and time than I thought it would take. But even knowing what I know now if someone had offered me the truck in the pic for Old Yeller unrestored there is no way I would have traded. Old Yeller is not and never has been for sale or trade at any price or for any vehicle.

However, if you don't plan on keeping the '67 and/or don't have that level of attachment then I'd consider the trade. Especially, if you don't have the time, funds or resources to restore the '67. And believe me it will take lots of time, funds and resources to get it looking like the truck in the photo.

If it's just another truck and you have the opportunity to step into something nicer then trade. But if you have the love, patience and desire to restore it then keep the '67.

The '67 gets worth more every year, the other one will decrease every year. From an investment standpoint and coolness standpoint the '67 wins hands down.

Thanks Bob, your a nice guy, I don't care what your friends say about you...

C'mon guys don't be blinded by impartial views and loyalty to your favorite year model. Look at the value of both trucks and decide from there. His current truck is LWB small window, no power, truck that needs paint.

The trade has power, an OD transmission, and respectable looking paint. I see this being a great trade.

unless you have an emotional attachment to your '67, i'd trade it before the other guy changes his mind ============= but crawl over, around and under it before you do looking for hidden or previously repaired rust

i honestly agree with him. if you are not up to tackeling your trucks issues and that has less of them.(Daily driver) i would take the easier route..

nothing is impossible to find a few years down the road. unless you want a mint condition 67 with every option available with the least miles in the U.S. that might be kinda hard/

Re: To trade or not to?

There's a few really nice 73-87's around here going from 2K-4.5K.

That "newer truck" looks like a $2,000 to 2500 truck to me. If YOU like it better, get it. If it were me (I'm assuming this truck would be fairly cheap) I'd try to swing it so I could have 'em both

What's the point of the "newer truck?" Fuel mileage? Use-ability? (is that a word?)

Re: To trade or not to?

Well it is still a toss up, only reason for me to even consider this is my new born daughter (2 months old as of past friday) and my wife. mt Daughter takes up all my time and money. The wife well she's 5 foot even and still cant reach the pedals with the seat all the way forward. I love my 67' but the wife can't drive it and I don't have a lot of time and money to devote to it like I want and it bums me out not be able to fix it up as nice as I want. I'm gonna go give the truck a look over and see if it is truely gonna be worth it. I figure if I do go with the trade I might be lucky enough to find someone down the road who would want to trade his old truck for my newer That or my step dad is already pawing at me to get the truck so I coudl sell it to him when I have a little more time and money to devote to a older pickup.

Edit: Thanks for all the opinions guys

Re: To trade or not to?

Your 5.0 wife can't reach the pedals. That's reason enough to keep it! That's why everything I have is a stick and jacked up in the air, so my 5.0 wife doesn't drive them, she has her car.

N2TRUX speaks words of wisdom. If the newer truck is a better conditioned truck and you need something more dependable than a swap would not be that bad. The basic 67-72 trucks will always be avaliable down the road. Oh yes many of our trucks are going up in value but most of them are; a) loaded swb & lwb trucks, 4x4's K10's, restored trucks, etc. When all is said is done you got to do what is best for you and your family. I am on the reverse of your situation. I have a 99 Toyota TRD 4x4 with 57,000 miles that I am selling to help offset the expenses of the resto of my 70cst. My wife said if I sold the Toco I could fix up my 70cst...not being one to dissappoint my wife ...I took the truck to the body shop last Jan. 08 and now the Toco is officially up for sale. You know what they say...I husband can be right or he can be happy! My wife is right and I am haapy. Good Luck with your decision.

Common sense prevails! Do what is best for you and your family now, and later, you can always find another car/truck to call your toy.
