strange thing hooked to brakes
Hey,I am swapping a 14 bolt from a parts truck I got to my suburban, and I crawled under the parts truck, looked over the axle, all good. Then I saw this thing with an arm and some kind of hydraulic servo(I guess) attached to the rearend. The brake line comes from the front into this thing, and then another brake line comes out and goes to the hubs. What is this? There isn't one on my suburban.

Re: strange thing hooked to brakes
I believe that is an adjuster which proportions the amount of braking depending on how much weight the truck is carrying. It is usually found on camper specials. It senses the amount of sag in the rear springs (ie) more weight, more sag. You probably don't need it in the Sub.

Re: strange thing hooked to brakes
I would think that it is not necessary because (1) your Burb doesn't have it now, and (2) the Burb probably won't be carrying the weight that the truck did. Just my $0.02.

Re: strange thing hooked to brakes
Load adjusting proportion valve.
You won't need it on the burb.

Re: strange thing hooked to brakes
Hey,you never know how much weight I'll put in there, just gotta take the family to a buffet restaurant........
Will I be able to use the brake lines off the 10 bolt if I get rid of this joint? Does anyone know of an all-inclusive rebuild kit for the 14 bolt?Mostly just want to replace seals.
